This Irish five-piece band from the North of Ireland are tearing up the rule book with their bold approach to their native musical tradition. Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, ‘New Landscapes’, for which Cúig were awarded ‘Best New Irish Band 2016’ by the Irish American News, they have taken both sides of the Atlantic by storm having toured extensively in the US, Europe and Ireland. Comprising of Miceal Mullen (banjo, mandolin), Rónán Stewart (fiddle, uilleann pipes, vocals), Ruairí Stewart (guitars), Eoin Murphy (button accordion) and Cathal Murphy (drums, guitars, vocals), Cúig look set to continue this success with the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘The Theory of Chaos’.

‘The Theory of Chaos’ features high octane original instrumental compositions and arrangements with the addition of original songs, a recording first for the talented five-piece.  With a keen emphasis on varied production techniques, the new album conveys a powerful evolution in Cúig’s already distinctive sound. ‘The Theory of Chaos’ allows each members’ individual musical flair to shine while simultaneously gelling seamlessly as an ensemble to create a progressive, exhilarating and polished album which places Cúig at the forefront of contemporary Irish music.

‘Carry On’, an original song from the upcoming album, was featured in a social media advertising campaign video for Aer Lingus filmed at Milwaukee Irish Fest 2018, the biggest Irish festival in the world, which has clocked over 650,000 views to date.

Seo Linn’s performances superbly blend together the old and the new, mixing Irish traditional instruments and songs with pop-folk music, with the native Irish language (an Ghaeilge) meandering flawlessly in and out of their set.

Seo Linn met in the rolling hills of Connemara in the West of Ireland. With 3 elementary school teachers in the band, the boys taught the Gaelic Irish language to students in Galway for years before deciding to record famous pop songs in the language, even recording YouTube videos to go with the songs. After these videos received unprecedented attention worldwide, garnering over 35 million hits to date, the boys decided to form a band and take their music on the road. Today Stiofán, Keith, Kev and Daithí are accomplished musicians who have played everything from festivals to headline shows to sports arenas.

Willos’ started in Siena (Italy) in January 2001 with a repertoire of Irish and Scottish folk music.

Over the years and nearly 600 gigs in Ireland, Italy, France and Switzerland, the band has continued to present their music by interpreting, composing and producing their own fresh unique sound.

In 2020, before all live music events were cancelled due to the pandemic, the band was booked to tour for the first time in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Poland.

However, by the end of 2021, the band was able to perform more than 30 live gigs all over Italy and started some important collaborations with pipers Massimo Giuntini and Martino Vacca from the band FULL SET.

In September 2021 the band started working on a new full album titled “From Now On” that was released in May 2022 with great international feedback.

Today the six piece band is no longer only reproducing traditional music, but they are now interpreting, composing and producing its own ‘fresh’ sound and unique style by experimenting original compositions mixed with trad and folk. The approach, however, is the same, performing and involving the audience by creating a dance atmosphere with ‘memorable’ rhythms and ‘catchy’ themes that can be played informally, in any venue.

Prior to “From Now On”, Willos’ released three albums, featuring international artists such as violinists Liz Carroll and Athena Tergis, and guitarist John Doyle.

Modernising tradition may sound like an oxymoron. But that is the intention of Andrea Rock, a passionate storyteller who has been divided his time between the radio microphone and the stage for over 20 years. His second solo album continues the path begun in 2015 with the album ‘Hibernophile’, a true declaration of love to Ireland. With ‘The Rebel Poets’, we deeply delve into the culture of the Emerald Isle. Taking up the themes of the Irish ‘rebel songs’, Andrea updates the message both conceptually and musically, creating a dynamic and high-impact sound.
Folk and punk, tradition and novelty in an album intended for all those who want to understand the history of a people of poets and rebels. The third album ‘True Stories’ was released on 17 March 2023 and it tells seven true stories linked to emblematic figures from Irish history. Andrea Rock in 2023 also recounts the culture of the island by participating in Samuele Sciarrillo’s podcast ‘Troubles – an Irish story’ with Michael Phillips and Riccardo Michelucci, while the band performs at top level events such as Celtica and Lucca Comics & Games.
The new work entitled ‘Mnà’ will be released on 8 March 2024 and the central theme will be the figure of women in the history and culture of Ireland
